Dream's lost

It happened again. The dreams and expectations of Indian Cricket Fans yet again with the wind. Kirsten’s men failed to show their supremacy in the crucial final of the 2008 Asia Cup held at National Stadium Karachi last week. On the other hand spinner Ajantha Mendis, made complete turnaround in the match one handed and made Indian’s to loose the battle horribly.

But Question remains unanswered that why Indian’s fails make the success story in the decisive final matches? Since 1999, Indian Cricket team has lost 18 Finals out of 22 and they managed to win only two Final matches, which is really hard to believe!

Ok, leave those stats aside, when we look at the fact about what went wrong in the Asia Cup final, Question occurs in the mind, did inexperience and irresponsibility cost India much? Did Dhoni made a mistake by choosing batting second in flat batting track, by knowing the fact that track would help the spinners later on the day. It was a gift to Srilankan’s to bowl under lights with two full time spinners. It was a pressure game and it’s not easy to bat against the experienced bowling attack and that too with two full time spinners rocking at the moment and also by noticing the reality that India doesn’t have a great record by chasing in the crucial final matches, Dhoni made a mistake by bowling first.

Those things are history now, but it’s a fact to be noted. Yes, Indian batsman’s are faced Mendis for the first time, but was there a need for Sehwag to go against him without reading his bowling ability. At that moment, Sehwag was well settled, and it was his duty to carry on the innings. But his irresponsible shot and dismissal paved the way for India’s disaster in the Karachi Final. And, this refers to Suresh Raina too because, throughout the tournament he was the man, who was in tremendous form, could have carried a credible innings with Dhoni. But there was no batsman to help Dhoni to complete the proceedings. Although there was much depth in Indian batting line up, no one couldn’t do it for India yet again, showed Indian batsmen’s inability to handle pressure especially in the final battle's.
